HERITAGE MEETS CONTEMPORARY: SULWHASOO / PART. 3

A day before Valentine’s day, our team set out northwest from the center of Seoul at the crack of dawn for what already marks our third consecutive short-form content project with Amorepacific’s Sulwhasoo. It was still dark and soundless in every corner - that is until the very moment we swung open the studio doors.

Despite the early hour, an absolute hustle and bustle immediately unfolded before our eyes. Surely, it didn’t take long for us to join this delightful chaos to capture the beauty of Sulwhasoo’s signature products once again.

This time, we had the opportunity to work with their signature concentrated ginseng duo, Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Cream 자음생 크림 and Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Serum 자음생 세럼. This power couple is widely celebrated among K-beauty enthusiasts, particularly among the older generations of moms, for the potent concentration of ginseng extract and its universe of anti-aging and revitalizing benefits.

The age-old saying "Mother knows best" rings true, especially when it comes to skincare.

But now, our client wanted to spread the word of this prestige to the younger folks as well. As mentioned in our previous posts, our job was to infuse Sulwhasoo’s essence with contemporary and youthful energy, creating a harmonious coexistence between tradition and modernity; the past and the present; heritage and technology.

For this project, we delved deeper into ginseng, showcasing its intricate and sophisticated properties.

We approached this series with three objectives in mind:  

1.    To introduce Sulwhasoo and its key ingredient, ginseng, to the global audience through a modern and fresh lens.

2.     To evoke curiosity and fascination towards ginseng by bringing fine arts elements to its presentation

3.     To break its long-standing image as a tradition-focused, classic brand and establish it as an innovative player in the beauty industry

So, with all of this in mind, we want to show you how we transform our client's vision into a captivating visual product. How do we take an idea or concept and bring it to life?

One important step is storyboarding. This is a process where we create a visual representation through a series of panels to depict what will be seen on screen. Storyboarding helps to ensure that everyone involved in the project is on the same page and the final product meets the client's expectations.

On the right side of the storyboard, we describe in detail how the video will unfold. This includes information such as which text to appear on screen, camera directions, product placement, final copy, and other essential elements that bring the video to life.

Ever seen ginseng as cyberpunk as this? We've certainly given this ingredient with deep roots in history a rejuvenating twist. Pun much intended.

We then spent the next month in the post-production stage working along with some of the best staff members and creative partners, which included tasks like editing, color correction, 2D and 3D graphics, music and sound production, pixel art, and touch design.
